This month is reflecting on the sad news that has been hitting the headlines, about the courier Jerome Rogers who took his own life after debt collectors took away his motorbike.
After receiving two traffic fines each £65, within months these had spiraled to a debt of more than £1,000, bailiffs then swooped in clamping the motorbike that was essential for Jerome’s work as a courier delivering blood and other medical items to hospitals. This unfortunately ended with the 20 year old taking his own life.
His family are calling for stricter regulations on bailiffs and a kinder approach to setting up payment plans, in this case it could of saved a life.
